The life adventures and stories of Austin, TX pedicab driver, Chad.

I went out last night to see Alkaline Trio, Reggie and The Full Effect, From Autum to Ashes, and No Motiv, cause I won some free tickets on the radio at 4am after pedicabbin last week (one of the advantages of being up so late listening to student radio, only 3 other people listening). Pedicab related, I called one of my boys up to come get us and take us down to Lovejoys. My first pedicab ride as a passenger. It was different than I thought it was, not better not worse. Just different being in back instead of upfront. It was fun though and worth the ride. Everyone should at least try it, if not use them everytime they are downtown. I'll be cabbin it tonight and tomorrow night so come on down.

So last Thursday night was a good time. And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead played a free show on 6th and Trinity, but I missed it. Someone said it might have been for a video.
Girls Gone Wild with, The Man Show's Doug Stanhope was downtown which made for some interesting entertainment while waiting for rides.
Also for the first and probably last night I had a female stripper tip ME $20 down my shorts. Oh the irony. A couple more 20's and we might be even.
Saturday night was a busy night. I think most everyone did really well. Most worked the UT football game and did well also.
Which is another point I want to bring up. My previous post says pedicabs were banned from the Scholtzs Beer Gargen area which is still true, but everyone was there and working and we had no hassles from Da Man. So I'm torn. Are they being cool and letting us work and I'm cool with that or should I be upset that they are saying one thing and doing another by not enforcing the ordinance. Oh well it was the last home game and by next year everyone will have forgotten about the ordinance until the second to last game.
Another advantage of having a job that you get off of really late is that not too many people are listening to KVRX 91.7 at 4am and that means less call in to win tickets to shows. Yes, I won two spots to see Alkoline Trio and Reggie And The Full Effect at La Zona Rosa on Thursday.
So until next time, take it easy and take a pedicab.

Yes it is sad. Pedicabbers are no longer allowed to pedal people from Scholtz's Beer Garden area to the football stadium on game days. This was ordered by the City of Austin Ground Transportation office. Appearantly we were causing some congestion in the area (not the 60-80 thousand people walking or people trying to park in that area). There is only one more home game this year anyway, so we'll see what happens next year when I "forget" about it.

And the joke about how much for us to pedal you to San Marcos, Houston, 620, or any other location further than 10 blocks is still not very funny. Believe it or not it's not the first time we've heard that one......that hour.

See ya on the streets....."TAKIN IT TO THA STREETS....."---singing...
